「Kam」一詞源於粵語中的「尷尬」(Kam-gaai),後來演變成形容一個人行為突兀、不合時宜、令人坐立難安。而加上後綴後的「Kam L」,則是指那些具備低社交商數(Social Intelligence)、缺乏自我覺察(Self-awareness)以及同理心薄弱(Lack of Empathy)的人。
與單純的內向(Introversion)不同,Kam L 往往在積極參與社交時,因無法解讀空氣中的微小信號,而導致社交災難。
